Remembering September 11th 2001 by M. Ann Machen Pritchard

I remember the morning of September 11th 2001. As I saw the first plane hit the first Tower I was in disbelief of what I had just seen. When I saw the 2nd plane hit the 2nd tower my heart just fell in belief very quickly that something horrible had just taken place. I thought about my relatives who live in New York and who work in and near the towers and all of the other people in the towers. I was in shock. I just could not believe what was happening. When the Pentagon got hit my world spun into high shock and worry that my brother-in-law was in danger as the building at the pentagon was where he worked. I did not know for many hours if he was ok or not. I had no luck in contacting my little sister for many hours to see if things were ok. Just so happens that my brother-in-law had gone to a different part of the pentagon to meet with another co-worker before the time the plane hit and he was not able to get back to his office. I believe God had saved him. Also, another relative who was supposed to work at the towers that day was late because he had to fix his sister's flat tire. So he was also saved. I thank God for saving both of them. Also, my aunt was working in another building near by the towers and her building shook but she was also saved. I feel very blessed to have my relatives still in my life but I do mourn for the lives that were lost and their families. I know how I felt not knowing if my relatives were dead or alive for hours and I can imagine what the families must feel actually losing their loved ones or being injured. My heart goes out to all of the families who have lost their loved ones or have injuries. I pray that they may have comfort and know that we all love them and we will never forget them.
